餞~ハナむケ。~
PROFILE
Hanamuke (farewell gift) was an indies visual kei band that disbanded before they had the chance to build a name. They had a lot of ambition and talent, but didn't last longer than only three years.
Their music was classified as visual kei and even though Hanamuke's music had no completely unique characteristics nor made any attempts to start a new type of music, it was very good with upbeat, catchy rock songs that were very enjoyable to listen to.
The band members wore visual kei costumes and the design of their CD covers, promotion material, and merchandise were very colorful and playful.
BIOGRAPHY
Hanamuke was formed by Tenten (vocals), Tsubaki (guitar), and Makoto (bass) in May 2000. Even though the line-up wasn't complete because they still needed another guitarist and a drummer, they started anyway.
Their first release was a demo-tape, which came in November. In the next month, Yuma joined the trio as the second guitarist.
In 2001, the young band released various demo tapes, which were all limited and mostly sold during their lives. In March they released their first single, which was simply titled Hanamuke. On August 7th, the band held their first one-man concert in Sendai and on the same date they released their second single, Nakadashi paradise.
At the beginning of 2002, they finally found a drummer; Kihiro was the former drummer of ArucarD. They continued to perform at various events, performing with more famous bands from the visual kei scene as their popularity increased. They also held a small tour in November, which lead to the release of their first mini-album Koushichouritsu ~newscaster hirata choukiji 32 toshi no baai~.
Kiriho decided to leave the band in January 2003 and a month later he was replaced by Rei. Around that time, they became part of the renowned visual kei label PS Company and released another mini-album and a single on it. They also performed with other PS Company bands such as The GazettE, with whom they also released a coupling CD, which was distributed for free.
In July they released their first full album, Ore wa kusatta tomato ja nee. When compared to their former releases, it seemed that Hanamuke 'grew up' as they had audibly improved their composition and instrumental skills. It seemed they had left the old times behind and were on their way to becoming a really successful band.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end as they decided to disband because of the so-called 'musical differences'. They held their last concert titled Good-bye Muke Rocker at November 29th in 2003 at Takadanobaba.
After their disbanding, Tenten and Yuma started the band KuRt. However, also they have disbanded.
Tsubaki became a support member of Miyavi and he then joined Porori until they disbanded. Currently, he is playing in the band NAUGHTY DOGG in which he calls himself KiMu.
Rei started the brand-new band Leon and then formed the band the scene has shadow, which have also split up.
It seems Makoto has disappeared from the music scene but perhaps we might hear something from him in the future!
