Самоцветы
Formed in 1971, VIA Samotsvety (Самоцветы in Russian, translated as Gems) was a Soviet pop/rock group, extremely popular in USSR. During more than 20 years of its history the group produced a number of hits which still remain familiar tunes in all Ex-USSR countries.
The group was created by Yury Malikov who remained the group's producer until it was disbanded in early 1990s. Samotsvety's lineup has been gradually changing and since mid-70s many visible Soviet pop stars were members of the group.
Initially, the Samotsvety's repertoire was greatly influenced by The Beatles and other groups of 60-s. The group performed songs by many Soviet composers and despite some rock flavor never been in disfavor of authorities.
