“Beesadaptic”: The Cyber-Grundge Band
The band’s name stems from a particular combination of audio and video images: a phrase overheard on a biology lesson; an episode of the “X-Files” featuring a swarm of genetically engineered bees; and the honeycomb gracing the cover of “A Taste of Honey,” by The Beatles.
The band’s genre is “cyber-grundge," according to members, a combination of cyberpunk and grunge; the letter D in “grundge” is not a typo, but rather an ironical reference to Dizzy, who fronts the band and coined the term.
Essential features of Beesadaptic's musical style are unexpected and instant mood changes and, courtesy of semi-electronic compositions, deep and dense sound. 3D-images, “airy” content, and a detached style of performance raise listeners up to new heights of perception.
Beesadaptic have, since 2003, performed publicly in different Russian cities: Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Vologda, Yaroslavl and others.
In 2005, Beesadaptic were invited, along with leading Russian alternative bands, to take part in the “Alternative New Year” music festival in Vologda. At the same time, the songs “All. Always.” and “Hopeless Secret” were receiving positive feedback at Nashe Radio. As a result, the band was selected to play alongside such flagships of Russian rock as Alisa and Pilot at the summer open-air “Crossroads” (Nizhny Novgorod).
In 2006, Beesadaptic helped organize several timely concerts, an “Indie Music Party” in Nizhny Novgorod, which included special guest groups from different regions of the country.
Their songs have stayed in rotation on Nashe Radio, Maximum, Aplus Rock, Nizhegorodskaya Volna, Felix Radio, Special Radio, AlterVersion, Votryve, TinFM, and Twilight Radio. Videos for “Fairytale in itself” (2007) and “Disposition” (2008) premiered on the first Russian alternative music TV channel, A-One, and the youth channel O2TV. They are still aired on these channels.
In 2005 and 2007, Beesadaptic were nominated for two RAMP's (Russian Alternative Music Prize) in the categories “Discovery of the Year” and “Underground Act of the Year”.
The positive energy of Beesadaptic's live shows, the power of driven guitar, the wall of white-sharp sound flying at near light speed---all of these physically excite any audience. Oblivious smiles of childish delight often appear on listeners’ faces, a response to the touch of something magic.
