Abe Froman
Abe Froman was a pop-punk trio from East Lansing, Michigan, that formed at the end of the 1990s. Their lineup consisted of siblings Erin and Matt Tobey and Ryan Batkie. Their Baltimore is Scum seven-inch was released in 2000.
The band toured and recorded a self-titled album, which was released on vinyl by Ryan's Bitter Like the Bean label, while the CD was put out by Plan-it-X. That was followed by a split LP/CD with Arkansas's Soophie Nun Squad.
The group went on hiatus after Ryan moved to Philadelphia to attend school. Abe Froman's last show was at 2004's Plan-it-X festival in Bloomington. Though the band never formally broke up, a reunion and future recordings look unlikely.
Erin Tobey now has a solo singer-songwriter project, while Matt plays under the name Matty Pop Chart; Erin and Matt both played in Bloomington's Mt. Gigantic. Ryan formed a short-lived band called Hissy Fit and has a solo project. In the Spring of 2007, Erin Tobey joined the pop-punk band Pink Razors, after the departure of their guitarist/second vocalist Mike Morris. She currently plays bass in the indie punk band Fat Shadow, Matt plays guitar in both Good Luck and Memory Map, and Ryan plays guitar and sings in Must Be Nice. Read more on Last.fm.
