Ajimal
An in-ear-sound
Ajimal is a shape-shifting musical endeavour, fronted by Fran O’Hanlon, involving different musicians and performers, depending on the desired effect.
The name Ajimal comes from Haiti. The original Ajimal was a much-feared voodoo witchdoctor, who once worked under the brutal regime of Francois ‘Papa Doc’ Duvalier. He came to preach at Christian masses, having since converted where O'Hanlon encountered him. The experience was a strange one and left an important impression. "I believe that to be inspired by something, it has to impress a strong, polar emotion on you, not necessarily a positive one, but it has to be something that causes this strong reaction."
