Apurimac
APURIMAC started as a band in 1983. A time when in Greece, the Latin music sounds like something “ exotic “. Through all those years, they are established as one of the most long life groups in, Greece, while giving more than 1.500 live concerts.
In 1986 they recorded “ Yesterday and Today “ , a revision of traditional Indian songs from Andes. In 1989 they release “ There In Brahamas “, with the appearance of Loukianos Kilaidonis . In 1992, the “ Dream Piracy “ was an independent release . In 1993, they took part in Vasilis Kazoulis record “ Something To Shine “. In 1997, they recorded “ Mother Earth “. Here, they set the music for Indian poems with the appearances of C. Katsimichas who versified the lyrics, P. Thalassinos and D. Panourgias. In 1998, they participated in LYRA’S set “ To Vangelis With Love “ revising songs of Vangelis Germanos. In 2000, they took part in Latin production “ In Latin Rhythm “ . In 2000, they release the maxi single “ Without Frontiers “, with the appearances of G. Dalaras, V. Papakonstantinou, L.Macheritsas, D.Tsaknis, A.Ioannidis, M.Paschalidis, C.Thiveos, and Al Dimeola. The income was disposed to the Doctors Without Frontiers of Greece\. In 2001, they release “ In The Neighborhoods Of South “. Apurimac wrote the music, the lyrics written by Despina Fortseras and here they had the collaboration of Argentina’s singer Mercedes Sosa!! . In 2002, Apurimac recorded “ Noches Latinas “, including all their successes . In 2004, they release “ Here We Go Again “ 12 revisioned songs, with the participation of G.Andreatos and C.Thiveos.
Their program is a combination between their music and songs, revisions of Greek and foreign composers with well known traditional songs of the Latinamerican music. When on stage, they use traditional instruments in a variety of sound and color, while they combine the traditional shades of Indian music of Andes, with the dynamic Afrocuban sound of the Caribean.
