Arizona Baby
By the end of 2003, in the heart of that dry, golden desert that is Castille, three good friends decided it was time for them to do whatever felt most natural to themselves. Rockers, buskers, ramblers, stoners, party fuellers... the bunch would definitely get on well. Going by the name of Arizona Baby, Marcos Ubeda (percussion, vocals), Ruben Marron (lead guitar) and Javier Vielba (vocals, guitar) played their first show as supporting act to Ainara LeGardon. Arizona Baby kept on rocking and rolling around their local hunting ground until the day came for them to get in the recording studio. A raw and intimate 12-song recording, Songs To Sing Along, bloomed at Raul Arroyo's Boulevard Studios (Valladolid, Spain) by the end of 2004. The band then fled to London, played a show at Camden Town's Camden Rock Cafe (formerly known as Caernarvon Castle), and got back to Spain. Although J. Vielba would be staying in London, the band was by no means over. Summer 2005 saw Arizona Baby attempting their first tour. After some on-the-van living, the band played a few shows at the Pelekas Street Beat Festival in the isle of Corfu (Greece), with Dutch blues-rock combo Johnny Explo, and a few more in other clubs around. On the way back, the band busked in Venice. Idillic experience. Back in Spain, the band recorded a cover version of Life Aint So Shitty which can be found on www.beemelon.com, a French tribute website to the band Blind Melon. After their successful strike on London during the third week of October'06 and a stream of killer shows at Madrid's Moby Dick and Valladolid's CoCo Cafe, the band will record what will be their expected second album very soon. In the meantime, J. Vielba keeps on spreading the word of the desert throughout London going by the name of El Meister (www.myspace.com/meisterjam). Arizona Baby recently played at Edward's (Hammersmith, London), The Good Ship (Kilburn, London) and Biddle Bros (Hackney, London) to enthusiastic acclaim from audiences, critics and promoters. Arizona Baby were back in Spain doing promotion and playing Norterock last 19th of April in Valladolid. It was a kick ass show!!! Dates for the summer soon to be confirmed.
