"i bought a karaoke machine with my birthday money when i was eleven. a year later, i picked up the guitar and wrote my first song about broken hearts and teenage suicide. the music most of us call "mainstream" is exactly what i listened to then is often still what i listen to now. i really think that a deeper person tries not to confuse trite with trivial.
i studied business at the university of north texas. reading textbooks bores me, but fiction is bliss. i grew up in california but found my home in dallas, texas. i've been taught to understand, respect, and have even been raised within the filipino culture. i have a drop dead gorgeous sister, two outrageously supportive brothers, the most loving and understanding parents, and the best and most loyal friends ever.
as far as my music goes, i try to leave it uncomplicated. it isn't chemical and it doesn't need to be figured out. sometimes it just takes plain words against simplicity to create something peaceful. and i guess i thrive on knowing i'm connecting with others through my peace. i'm inspired by artists who've mastered this practice like jewel, ben harper, the counting crows, jason mraz, dave matthews, the beatles and bic runga. i'm intrigued by the ones who've managed to intelligently twist the essence of this art like nelly furtado, esthero, eminem, and poe. i'm impressed by the people who can stand on stage with a naked heart and i respect the talent for being outspoken and honest.
i like graffiti painted walls, the color orange, the word "fuck", the taste of rain, the sound of an old record, old volvos and mangos. i believe that all people are born spiritual. i believe that saving my kisses is a good thing. i believe in loving and trusting everyone until given a good reason not to and i believe in god. i'm a twenty one year old singing, melodramatic, songwriting, guitar strumming, indecisive, succulent, wild woman. i'm sensitive and overly analytical. i'm a virgo and a strong lover. however, above all this, i am a performer. i am this before i am anything else. only i don't believe that my guitar and i can change this crazy world. what i do believe, however, is that if you listen to us close enough, you just might start seeing it a little differently."
