Big White Clouds
Big White Clouds is the music project of Joe Solof, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from North Andover, MA.
The band began in 2008 when Solof, having previously recorded under the name The Good Ship Lollipop, presented longtime collaborator Mike Moschetto with a more ethereal, amplified direction for his simple, catchy indie-folk tunes. The duo produced a handful of demos before becoming more involved with their then-new band, Ferris Wheel.
Two years later, when they had graduated from college and Ferris Wheel had long since dissolved, Solof approached Moschetto with a newfound interest in Big White Clouds, aiming to record a proper full-length album at Moschetto's new studio, The Office. In December 2010, 'Small White Clouds' was self-released on 12" LP and for download at http://bigwhiteclouds.bandcamp.com. To promote the album, Big White Clouds began performing live with Solof on vocals & guitar; Moschetto on drums, guitar & vocals; former Ferris Wheel bandmate Mike Wolfenden on bass & vocals; and album contributor Amory Sivertson on keys & vocals.
