Brent Amaker & The Rodeo
Brent Amaker and the Rodeo have spent the last three years touring the US and Europe in support of their 2006 self titled release and 2008's "Howdy Do!"(Gravewax Records). Their forthcoming album tentatively titled "Please Stand By" will be released early 2010 and will be supported by a national tour with stops in small towns and major cities alike including Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Durango, CO, Flagstaff, AZ, Deadwood, SD, Oklahoma City, OK, Los Angeles & San Francisco, CA, and of course their hometown of Seattle, WA.
The Rodeo is gaining a reputation for their raucous, whiskey-infused shows where a growing number of fans (called the B.A.R Brigade) participate by emulating the Rodeo's distinct style. Dressed in black from head-to-toe, the Rodeo offers up original country music classics a la Johnny Cash but delivered in the spirit of Devo, David Bowie and many others who still believe the live show should be, well a show. Their live sets often feature Bunny Monroe-a dancing girl from a local burlesque troupe and a phenomenon only known as the "Whiskey Baptism" which has to be experienced to be believed.
This past year B.A.R. gained national exposure on the Showtime series "Californication" and have made appearances at music festivals around the world including Popkomm Festival in Berlin and CMJ in New York City. You can also find them performing in the indie "slasher" feature film "Punch" just released on DVD. Punch director Jay Cynik is currently working with the band to develop an adult graphic comic to be released 2010 in conjunction with the new record. Read more on Last.fm.
