Brut Boogaloo
Brut Boogaloo plays classic rock, focusing on solid material performed with passion and soul. The band was formed in Oslo in the late nineties and released the EP "Do the Boogaloo" in 2001, causing the critics to use superlatives seldom seen in connection with Norwegian bands. The only original member remaining is songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Henning Solvang, and since 2003 the rest of the lineup has consisted of Peter Olofsson (guitar), Peter "Bosse" Boström (bass) and Børge Henriksen (drums). And since early 2006 the band has been fortified with Cato Thomassen (The Cato Salsa Experience) on keyboards. The new lineup has resulted in a tighter, more dynamic and richer sound. In May 2004 they started recording their debut album "When the dog takes over" at Grand Sport Studios in Oslo, but due to some technical problems the record wasn’t finished until late 2005. One of the tracks from the album was included on the soundtrack for the Norwegian film "Izzat". In 2006 the band has performed at by:Larm in Tromsø, to public and critical acclaim, and also done a short tour of Norway to promote the album. Festival performances in Norway this summer include Quart in Kristiansand, Slottsfjell Festival in Tønsberg and Øyafestivalen in Oslo. The album "When the dog takes over" is out now on Midnight Monkey/Tuba and has received great reviews in all major newspapers in Norway.
