Cinemascape
Cinemascape was initially a duo from Stockholm, formed by Johan Jarl and Sébastien Malmquist. After a short time, their producer Marcus Johansson joined as a member and they became a trio.
They write the kind of songs that they really miss on today's music scene: songs with strong melodies with the vocals as focal point. All this placed in an elegant and yet danceable soundscape. Cinemascape listen to a lot of music from different genres and let themself be inspired by all kinds of different artists from many corners of the world. In English and in French the members write and perform their songs and personal lyrics. Musically they can be described as a hybrid of fashionable, modern, French-inspired electro, dark and elegant goth, a touch of German cabaret, hard trance and last but not least a huge amout of inspiration from the 80s. The past meets the future.
Visually, Cinemascape is exciting and excited; they enjoy expressing themselves in their image and they value the artistic aspects in performance as high as the music itself. On stage they want to be more than only voices and they like mixing music and song with guest dancers and such, in order to create a cinematic, intimate and almost avant garde kind of feeling.
Cinemascape create their own stage costumes. For them, clothes and fashion is an important form of art just like music. They are inspired by crazy French haut couture, androgynous visual kei from Japan, the trash of post-punk, the elegance of the 18th centry as well as their own interpretation of fashion.
Cinemascape do not only toe the lines of art and fashion. They also like to challenge such interesting issues as gender and sexual orientation, as well as sexuality in itself. They take pride in not being victims of society's perception of gender. Art demands free thinking, an open mind and an interest in experimenting. Read more on Last.fm.
