David Kramer
David Kramer was born in Worcester , South Africa. He is a South African folk singer and musician. He began his career in the mid 1970's.
His first album BAKGAT! was released in 1980 and immediately banned due to its political satire, coarse language and the mixing of languages. He sings in English and Afrikaans.
He was and is also active in directing/producing stage productions. Two of his more famous musicals is District Six (1986) and Kat and the Kings. In 1997 Kat and the Kings won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical when it was playing in the London West End. District Six was a politically influenced musical telling the story of the people of District Six in Cape Town, South Africa that were forcibly removed from the area during apartheid.
