Deep Dive Corp.
Members: Björn Gerhard, Peter Musebrink
History
Deep Dive Corp. was formed in 1999 in Hamburg/Germany. The driving force and featured guitarist of the band is Peter Musebrink. To this date DDC has released 6 albums. The first 3 albums have been released on Jubilee Records, and the latest releases have been released with their new label In-D Records. The music of Deep Dive Corp. has been included on many compilations such as the Lovefield Comp., Nirvana Lounge, Le Café Abstrait, N.Y. Lounge, DJ-Magazine, Luftkastellet, Hotel Costes, History of Chill, to name just a few.
The amazing feedback of their debut album "Support Your Local Groover" was no unexpected surprise. The range of Deep Dive Corp.'s music has a main connecting thread through all the tracks which fits them all together as an emotionally-experienced album.
Also on "Blackmail Recordings" you can find a likeable world of music that is definitely not able to be put in any genre. Downbeat, ambient, house, rap and dub describe the electronical part, and the warm, natural way of using tools and production gives the musical flavor. The song "Deep Heart" feat. Inaya Day is a good example for that.
With their third album "Beware Of Fake Gurus" these very charming men are once more diving deep into their musical spectrum. In this very fresh album Deep Dive Corp. has developed their multi-stylistic approach and uniqueness even more deeply, without losing the very specific emotional experience their music brings you. The uplifting track "Dehli News" is already the second colaboration between DDC and the master of the bassguitar, Hellmut Hattler.
"Freestyle Floating", their next album, sounds like the logical progression of the DeepDiveSound. With a more driving feeling and a slightly faster groove-base, Deep Dive Corp. repeats the excitement of their live shows in CD-format. A groovy, positive party-atmosphere that make for shaking hips and bobbing heads. Guest musicians like Hellmut Hattler/bass (TabTwo, Kraan) and Dennis Le Gree/voc. (Starlight Express, R. Kelly, etc.) keep the funk-level up.
"...and Some Funky Fish" is even more rythmic and various in style than you might expect. Thanks to Bahram Ji (vocals, santur and setar) and his son Bashir (toombak) in the tracks "Brilliance" and "Beloved", world and ethnic elements are back in the DDC sound.
This time DDC added funk and soul elements as well. Check out the track "Hands Up" with the remarkable voice of Dennis le Gree, who is a regular visitor in Deep Dive Corp. productions. DDC even rocks in "Galaxies" thanks to Patrick P´s soaring vocals + Boris´ powerful guitar. A japanese blues (!) in the track "Jiyou", features the exotic voice of Japanese Hideyo Blackmoon. And than there are the typical driving and phat grooving DDC guitar-tracks like "Blue" + "Slam Jam" which make it quite clear that only where you find the DDC logo on you´ll find sound that fits any mood ,situation, or vibe - from having a shower to rocking out at a spontaneous party.
The latest release "Undiscovered" is a remix cd, a new look back at DDC's work thru the spectacles of artists like Ibizarre (Hands Up), Timewarp Inc. (Blue), Havana Boys (Phony), Ohm-G (Walker), Razoof (Beloved) + Klovn (Brilliance), to name just a few. It´s a cd full of unreleased RMXs plus Deep Dive Corp.´s new track "Shine" which is included in the latest compilation "Luftkastellet 5" from Music For Dreams Records, the very innovative label from Denmark.
In their live shows, these experienced full-on musicians know how to rock the crowd. Today´s DDC-Livecrew is Peter, also known as P.M.FM, playing guitars and sequencing live on stage, with german bass-legend Hellmut Hattler (Kraan, Tab Two) keeping the bass-sections phat and juicy, while Oli Rubow (DePhazz, Die Fantastischen 4, etc.) is the driving force behind the drumset, together creating the perfect soundscapes, plus the true live feeling.
DDC is really playing truly live music in their shows, also using special hardware to create new sounds and effects in each song, and through the whole gig. This unique flexibility has proved to enable the artists to lift the audience to the highest points of ecstasy. During the performance the lively communication between the artists and the crowd supports a deep, personal atmosphere at each concert.
