Dumbsaint combine cinematic music with original narrative film projections, performed in synch. Utilising the screen on stage as an integral 5th member, the band seeks to present an 'installation' where sound and image interact in unexpected ways. Dumbsaint create a live performance in which each song is a short film, and each screening a musical set piece.
Formed in 2009, the band quickly developed a cult following for their innovative live performances. A residency at Sydney's Excelsior Hotel saw the band launch their independently produced DVD, 'Perennial 2009', which quickly sold out.
After landing supports with acts such as Thousand Needles In Red, Headphones President (JPN), Sleep Parade, sleepmakeswaves, Laurenz Pike (PVT) and showcasing at the Progfest and Menagerie festivals, the band entered Studios 301 with producer Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Totally Unicorn, Serious Beak) to record the debut album, Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form. Released in April 2012 through Bird's Robe Records, the debut has seen local and international airplay, including Triple J, FBi, 4zzz, KOOP (US) and more.
The band toured extensively along the east coast in 2012 in support of the album, including a string of coveted international supports for Rosetta (US), Earth (US) and Grails (US). Their videos for the singles 'Don't Forget To Bring Down The Sky' and 'Inwaking' have proven hits on Youtube and screened on ABC TV's Rage program.
July 2012 saw the addition of 4th member and second guitarist, Michael Tokar, formerly of Sydney's Paper Champion. Michael's arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the band, with the 4-piece determined to further expand their sound and conceptual capabilities between film and live music.
Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form is out now through Bird's Robe Records.
Four years in the making, this hour-long instrumental album from the post-rock three-piece has enough cinematic grandeur to soundtrack an entire catalogue of Lynchian dream imagery...this an epic and impressive piece of work.

The wonderful wash of dynamics, great songwriting and sheer variation of this album places Dumbsaint high in the post-metal genre. They genuinely bring something new to the genre’s sound and it’s exciting. 9.0/10

Dumbsaint takes the listener on a journey that works on many levels, conscious and unconscious, cerebral and visceral. Time invested travelling with Dumbsaint will always be rewarding, no matter how many times the journey is undertaken.
