Elisabeth Andreassen
Elisabeth Andreassen is one of the most popular and successful female singers in Scandinavia and she’s been an active artist since 1980. Elisabeth Gunilla Andreasson Andreassen was born as a Norwegian citizen in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 28’th March 1958. She grew up on the island of Källö-Knippla in the Gothenburg archipelago together with her Norwegian parents, called Ingrid and Jarle, her littlebrother Jan and two foster-brothers. Elisabeth also has her roots in the small community of Sykkylven in the north-west of Norway.
In 1980, at the age of 22, Elisabeth moved from Gothenburg to Stockholm and became "discovered" as a singer. In the first part of the 1980’s Elisabeth was a famous countrysinger in Scandinavia and she performed at the Wembley Country Festival in 1982.
Elisabeth has performed in musicals and revues at Maxim and China Theatre in Stockholm. She also was a member of the duo Bobbysocks together with Hanne Krogh back in the 1980’s. Following their success in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 they completed a european tour which included numerous TV appearances. Elisabeth and Hanne also completed a major tour of Australia and they made a huge success with a stage show in Moscow, Russia.
Elisabeth has been a member of several bands, such as KEB Special, together with Kalle Bäckström and Bengt Adielsson in 1978, Eliza Band, together with Leif Ingdahl and Kjell-Åke Ring in 1980, Chips, together with Kikki Danielsson, Lasse Holm and Tanja in 1980-1983, Bobbysocks, together with Hanne Krogh in 1983-1988 and Kikki Bettan Lotta, together with Kikki Danielsson and Lotta Engberg in 2002-2004.
In 1982 Elisabeth had a small role in the Swedish movie "Klippet", and she also performed the themesong called "In my dreams" in a duet with Mats Rådberg. In 1987 Bobbysocks recorded their last album, "Walkin’ on air", in Los Angeles an one year later Elisabeth recorded a countryalbum in Nashville.
Elisabeth has competeted in the Eurovision Song Contest four times. She has performed in five Swedish national finals and five Norwegian national finals. In 1982 she represented Sweden in the European final together with Kikki Danielsson as the duo Chips, singing "Dag efter dag" (Day after day), and became 8’th. Elisabeth has sung for Norway in Eurovision Song Contest three times. First in 1985 with Bobbysocks and "La det swinge" (Let it swing), where she won the competition together with Hanne Krogh. In 1994 Elisabeth and male singer Jan Werner Danielsen finished on 6’th place with "Duett" (Duet) and in 1996 Elisabeth became second with "I evighet" (Eternity).
Since Elisabeth moved to Norway in 1990 she has performed in several musicals, such as "Chess", "Let’s Twist Again" "Return To The Forbidden Planet", "Sophie's World", "Sweeney Todd" (as Mrs Lowett) and "The Phantom Of The Opera" (as Christine). Elisabeth has also successfully completed a several "One woman shows" in Sandefjord in the southern Norway during the 1990's.
Elisabeth has performed on twentyfour albums, fifteen of them are solo-albums. She's also famous as a host on Norwegian TV.
In July 1994 Elisabeth got married to Tor Andreassen and they have two daughters, called Anna (born on 19’th April 1995) and Nora (born on 26’th March 1997). The Andreassen family lives in a big brown house in Ullern, outside of Oslo, Norway, since October 1995.
Elisabeth was one of four judges in the Norwegian edition of X-Factor 2010.
