Evilnox
Evilnox is a Russian musical project, performing a musical style known as black ambient. The project was founded in January 12th, 2012, in the city of Mineralnye Vody (Russian for Mineral Waters). Ruslan Besov is the project's only musician and member.
The music itself is a mixture of medieval melodies, dark ambient, and black metal, combined with a meloncholic and dismal atmosphere. Vocals are also present in the music, but its purpose is to accent the listener's attention on the music. The raw guitar sound only amplifies the atmosphere of sorrow and despair, forcing one to abandon all in favor of his own thoughts, and to temporarily descent into the darkness of one's inner world.
The early works of the project were heavily influenced by the creative works of black ambient bands such as Abruptum, Mortiis, Vond, Burzum, and the likes, as well as Scandinavian and Slavic folklore. May 2012 saw the release of the official demo called "The Land of the Lost Souls... the Revival." The demo was composed of early material, which included some of Ruslan's second project material - La Noche de' Walpurgis. However, it has stylistically defined the further development of Evilnox.
The project's themes are based on myths, tales, legends, medieval folklore and the author's personal fantasy. The project does not adhere to any religious (or antireligious) or ideology, giving the listener the ability to handle the meaning of songs in his own way. Read more on Last.fm.
