Leader and founder of the band is guitarist Maurizio Glielmo, singer and artist of a long and prestigious past in the Italian blues scene.
For years, alongside the legendary Fabio Treves, he appeared on the stages of the most important Italian festivals and international as well as participated in the recording of two albums, "Treves 3" in 1985 and "Sunday's Blues" in 1988 where there is the presence of important artists such as Chuck Leavell (formerly with Rolling Stones, Almann Brothers, Eric Clapton, and others), Dave Kelly (Blues Band) hero of British Blues, Pick Withers (Dire Straits' drummer).
Maurizio Glielmo's dream of the "Gnola Blues Band" was officially born in 1989 with the initial objective along the routes of the most classic blues. The band started from the interpretations of standards (Elmore James, Muddy Waters) up to blend the traditional elements in interesting compositions. The GBB is supported by the heart and soul of the pair Bertagna / Pavin, drums and bass, respectively, a granite rhythm section capable of giving space and light to the soloists by paying particular attention to the dynamics. An invaluable contribution to the piano by Roger Mugnaini, elegant accompaniment is always ready to present itself in person to Glielmo on both piano and organ.
The live shows soon became frantic and musical credibility came into being thanks to participations in festivals with international artists and record production at the first "First Step" in 1991 which collects rave reviews from critics (The Blues, Buscadero, Making Music , Wild Bunch, etc..) up to the second studio album "Walkin' Through the Shadows of the Blues" which won the award for best jazz album of the year 2000 and blues is delivered by Ernesto De Pascale (Rai 2) to Bordighera Blues Festival.
Deep knowledge of the use of dobro and "slide" technology in general, this technique is expressed with so much personality as to be considered a specialist nationally. This ability allows him to be invited as a session man for non-strictly blues but overdrawn in pop music, rock and pop. Investments as a soloist in productions of others continues: "Goin 'Home" Rava BB, "On the Good Foot" Back in Blues Band, "I live on the moon" Matthew Bass, "Thank you" Max Pezzali, "Mother Earth" Tazenda, " And I left SEMM "David van de sfross, in the compilation of Sestri Levante Blues Festival with" Key To The Highway ".
In the summer 2003 meeting with the singer of Atlanta, Sandra Hall, where it is an intense collaboration that continues today with a series of concerts to major festivals in Italy (including Pistoia Blues 07) and in Europe and the Registration of the so-called "Red Bone Woman" (2007), eleven tracks of which nine are signed by Mugnaini and the same with Glielmo Sandra Hall.
In 2006 the album "Live at Blues Band Gnola Space Music", recorded in two nights at the "local historian" of Pavia, and for this work there are excellent reviews of the major magazines. Glielmo also participated in the sessions of three songs on the album "Space Blues", a compilation of the best musicians revolving around the mythical local Pavia.
In summer 2009 the band accompanies the singer guitarist Roy Roberts with a series of concerts in major blues festivals in Europe and Italy. In September of that year Maurice Glielmo starts the recording with Jimmy Ragazzon and will soon release "Blues, Ballads and Songs" CD produced by the label, Scotti Fabrizio GOOD COMPANY, working mostly acoustic traditional blues songs that re- and personal interpretations of some covers. It is the utimate work in March 2010 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the band, "20 Years on the Road" (again for the GOOD COMPANY) looks like a compilation CD with some excerpts from the previous and the addition of five new songs .
In 2009 Glielmo Maurizio Muraro Evasio collaborates with singer-songwriter (formerly Sector Out) cuts to the album "All or love" songs in the breath and not even if I lose you. From April 2010 Maurizio Glielmo "Gnola" is on tour with the band of David Van de Sfroos, having also participated in recordings of Yanez, the latest work of singer-songwriter record Como.
