Half Seas Over
Half Seas Over were a post hardcore 4 piece band, from Leicester, England made up of ex members of Manrae, Crossfire & Fox Force Five. They existed from 1997-1999
Another band using the name 'Half Seas Over' is a laid-back jazz outfit consisting of Pianist/Composer Elan Mehler and Singer-Songwriter Adam McBride-Smith and was founded in Brooklyn 2005.
Original Half Seas Over Members:
Guitar / Vocals - Sean Atkinson (ex Manrae)
Guitar - Tim Waterfield (ex Fox Force Five, Ann Arbor and currently in Karhide)
Bass - Stephen Short
Drums - Glenn Bowen (ex Crossfire, Manrae, Torrey Canyon)
Band History:
Glenn & Sean formed the band shortly after the demise of Manrae, both were determined to cut a new path away from what emo had become & start playing the type of music that they both enjoyed listening to at the time. It wasn't long before the 'DC' influence reared it's head in the music that Sean & Glenn started to jam together in informal practice sessions.
Realising that they still wanted to play music together, Sean & Glenn decided to make their new partnership more permanent & instantly recruited a bass player in the form of Stephen Short (a mutual friend)
Half Seas Over took this guise for some 6 months until Tim Waterfield was added on 2nd guitar
The band played many gigs up & down England & Scotland during 1997 - 1998 & recorded 1 demo, 1 CD EP & 4 unreleased songs
