Headland
There are / once were at least three musical acts named Headland:
1. an indie band from London, United Kingdom
2. a Byron Bay, Australia-based tech house duo
3. an instrumental band from in and around Lennox Head, Australia
1. Headland is a London-based indie band. This band of under the radar knob tweakers put together their tracks based on digging through their record collections, mixing and matching bits to make songs equally esoteric and engaging. Fans of Beck, The Beta Band and Air could do worse than spend some time with Headland. http://www.headlandmusic.org/
2. Headland is a tech house duo of Phil Smart and Dave Basek, based in Byron Bay, Australia. "Haunting electro manipulated atmospherics and wired Lennon-like melodies pumping through every hook like its connected directly to the national grid, Headland could quite easily slip into the Indie disco scene" (Subbacultcha) See www.junkbeats.com
3. Headland from Lennox Head, Australia, began in 2013 as a soundtrack to a gorgeous collection of found Super 8 film fragments depicting surfing and coastal culture in and around Lennox Head, Australia in the 1970s. The instrumentation is lyrical, the compositions quaint and heartfelt. The combination is a personal insight into an emotional understanding of place.
The players of this collective have a long history in the underground/mainstream music scene in Australia and with their album, True Flowers From This Painted World (2017), they have created a similar cinematic/avant-garde-pop as created by the likes of Calexico, Friends of Dean Martinez, Boxhead Ensemble, Lullaby for the Working Class and even Pink Floyd and Neil Young, so immersive and far-reaching is their sound.
Musicians: Les Dorahy, Brock Fitzgerald, Murray Paterson, Joel Silbersher. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
