Jarboli
Jarboli is a Serbian band from Belgrade, Serbia formed in early 1990's. It is formed by Boris Mladenović, Kovač brothers - Žolt and Daniel and Nemanja Aćimović. Boris and Daniel on guitars, Žolt on bass and Nemanja on drums.
Influenced by rock and roll and rhythm and blues they started to compose their own material and to play gigs in small clubs gaining audience and experience. Their early stage shows included weird stage decorations, costumes and behavior not typical for a rock band, which often could be described as dadaistic.
After few years, in 1996 they released an album called 'Čizmanoga' ('Bootleg') with both – studio and live recordings. They earned dedicated followers and become sort of cult band. However, they avoided to accept any specific music genre playing from cabaret, rhythm and blues, rock, hard rock and pop music to experimental, noise and live rave music.
In 1999 Jarboli released their first completely studio recorded album 'Dobrodošli' ('Welcome') for B92 label. On the album release date NATO started to bomb Serbia so complete promotion of the album stopped.
In 2000 band released EP titled 'Samo ponekad' ('Only sometimes') which was a success and increased their cult status among urban youth. It was followed by many successful concerts.
Second album for B92 label was released in the end of 2001. It was an 18 songs epic album titled 'Suvišna sloboda'. Recorded in a big studio it provided richer orchestrated recordings. Album received warm reviews by critics, but Daniel had to go to army, so it put again the band in a bad position. During Daniel was in army Sonja Lončar was playing keyboards in the band. After Daniel returned Jarboli agreed to accept Sonja as new, fifth member of the group.
In 2003. band has released and electro EP called 'Uslovna sloboda' ('Parole'). Although it was self released it was a big success for Jarboli followed by many concerts.
A live album 'Jedan čovek, jedna rezolucija' ('One man, one resolution') released in 2005 contains recordings from a concert held in SKC in Belgrade.
Next long play album 'Buđanje proleća' ('Rottening of the spring') was released on 2006 for 'Odličan Hrčak' label. It showed Jarboli in a darker mood with funk elements in music.
Since 2007 members of Jarboli become important as supporters and producers for the development of a new wave of Serbian bands known as 'New Serbian Scene'. They gained a regional recognition playing concerts in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia.
Also, members od Jarboli participated in various music bands such as Sila, Lira Vega, Veliki Prezir, piano duo LP, Jesenji Orkestar...
In 2009 they started to record a new album.
