Jettie
Jettie was formed in late 1999 by Stefan Juhlin, Jesper Bohm, Clas Bohman and Johan Friman. At the time, all the members were involved in other projects (Jason and the argonauts, Carnated, and Auster) and initially Jettie was considered more of a ‘side project’. They did a few shows and received a great response so they decided to focus more on the band and the result was a 4 song demo recorded in early 2000. The demo was very well received and the band signed a deal to record an EP for the newly founded indie label Kasual Recordings.
Less than a year later, their debut CDEP was released. Goodmorning Russia was recorded at Rommarö Studios, known for recording Sahara Hotnights, The Motorhomes, Popsicle and more... It did very well and sold nearly 1500 copies in
Scandinavia alone, which is very good considering the fact that the label didn’t have proper distribution at the time.
In time for their Swedish tour with Logh (Bad Taste Records) in 2003 they did a limited one-off EP for Black Star Foundation (Tiger Lou, Koma, Plastic Pride) and started working on new material for their upcoming album.
After some major line-up changes (leaving only two original members, Claes & Anders) the new album, Heading for Mornings, was recorded at Euphony Studios by Jonas Sundberg (Melody Club) in January 2004. It features 10 amazing songs, some mellow and melodic and some more up-beat and catchy. It received a lot of praise in Swedish press (5/5 And the Sound, 5/5 Arbetarbladet, 4/5 Muzic.se, 4/5 Sydsvenskan...) and the fans love it!
Jettie just got home from their European tour with the National Anthems (Defiance Records/Rough Trade) and will be touring alot more 2005.
