Klinika
Klinika is the name of more than one artist
1) Polish folk punk band from Wrocław, Lower Silesia. Founded in 1993.
2) Techno duo from Ukraine
1) Klinika has it's punk rock roots in Wroclaw, south-west Poland and came into existence in spring 1993. Only Rodzer (the guitarist) remains from the early days when Klinika mixed melodic punk rock with elements of reggae and new wave. The first personnel changes came early on, but the new lineup would shape the future of the band.
Writer/vocalist Kaska became a permanent member just a year after Klinika came into existance, and a violinist was added immediately prior to recording their first album Ultimo in 1995. This was released by Enigmatic Tapes (on casette only) one year later. The addition of a violinist added folk components to their already complex sound, and despite the highly amateur recording quality, the album sold over 3 thousand copies.
Further personnel changes took place in 1996 when the band was joined by a new violinist Aska. Together with Rodzer and Kaska, they now form the core of Klinika.
Klinika slowly refined their sound through 1997 and 1998. They recorded and released their first professional album Tourdion with the help of Nikt Nic Nie Wie, Poland's largest punk-rock label, on tape and CD in April 1998.
Playing live in their home town, and throughout Europe (Poland, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia), the band have made over a hundred appearances since the release of Touridon. They have added tracks to numerous compilations, released in Poland, Europe, and both Americas.
Part way through recording their second album Akwen 116, the group lost instruments and equipment in a serious car accident on their way to a festival in Luzy, France. Other problems in 2002 and 2003 set the band back, however they managed to acquire their own recording studio. And in April 2003, Klinika gave a 10th anniversary concert to a packed Wroclaw venue.
Half year later, after more personnel changes, Klinika reappeared with a new bass guitarist and a new drummer. In 2004 the group set off on a tour to France, Switzerland and Germany and gave a impressive performance at the Festival of Polish Culture in Saint-Vallier (France).
During last two years Klinika has upped their number of live performances, and undertaken a number of European tours, including spring 2006 (Czech, Austria, Switzerland, France and Germany) and July 2006 (Finland - Puntala Rock Festival). We crowned this very fruitful period by recording and mastering a new 4 track CD single and EP Karate Pogo, released again on Nikt Nic Nie Wie.
