M.G. & The Escorts
M.G. & The Escorts musical heritage grew from the likes of Chet Atkins, the Ventures, the Shadows, and the Fireballs, and Santo & Johnny (who knew?). Add to that the influence of the Beach Boys, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jerry & The Pacemakers, and you have an idea of the hodge-podge of styles that made up this group. But they loved music, harmony, good sound, and pleasing their listeners.
Their biggest influence though was the late Mel McCormick - the Beaconsfield High School principal that managed and inspired them.
Glenn Grecco & Bill Bryans met through Bill's father's record store - Ted's Records and Hobbies - in Pointe Claire , Quebec in the winter of 1960. Glenn froze his ears walking home after their first jam, but that didn't deter them from forming an instrumental surf band - the Valiants. Paths crossed with a popular local band, M.G. and The Escorts - the bands merged, and then added lead singer Graham Powers.
