Man In A Room
Man in a Room (MIAR) is producer Steven Connolly from Dublin, Ireland. He started his love of electronic music in the late 80's. A little later becoming a regular to the infamous clubs of the era (Olympic, Asylum, Sides). Serving his time in the trenches, Steven craved to be one of the true dreamers. The Music makers!
He and close friend Alan Walsh (Aural Abuse) decided to collaborate and form a duo, under various guises and with carrying success. Most notable of all being the dance act "C-Quence" who were an established name on the Dublin club scene in the mid/late 90's. Having a residency at the "Ormonde multimedia center" was a rarity. Especially for a live dance act. They made regular appreances at all the main venues and with many a national and international act. Providing support for the likes of Paul Okenfold, Darren Emerson and Mickey Finn, to name but a few...
Cutting his teeth with names such as these was obviously a big inspiration and eventually Steven decided to quit the live scene, turning down numerous gig dates along the way and concentrate on production. At the best of times, this is a black art and so he spent the next few years off the Radar, learning his craft. Hours a day inside his room inspired the name "Man in a Room". Time has passed and ears have matured. He now has a more evolved taste in music. Listening to all and everything has given him a broad range of influences. DnB has always been a passion and Jazz has found its way into his heart. Getting older, brings a more organic outlook on things, he says.
Steven is now producing many different genres of music and working under a number of independent Record Labels. He aims to be as eclectic as possible. As he says himself "I love trying new styles and hope it's something I'll always do. It's about experimenting, listening, learning and trying to become wiser from the experience".
