Moped
There are at least seven bands called Moped:
1) The tracks that are playable on this Moped page (Chunkabliss, Dos, etc.) are by the Moped from San Fransico. BIO: As one of San Francisco's staple indie acts, Moped's organic brand of dance music has kept bodies movin' since 2003. Multitasker Peter Gavin (sax, bass, keys and sometimes vocals) leads the duo, while drummer Scott Eberhardt keeps the time and brings the room together like a rug! Interspersed between avant-jazz, electro and heady trip-hop originals, Moped lightens the mood with covers such as Hall and Oates' "Maneater." Their use of abstract visuals and quirky cult movies (projected behind them) completes the cinematic quality of their live shows.
2) Moped were a New Zealand band formed in Palmerston North by three brothers, Gareth (guitar & backing vocals), Hayden (bass and lead vocals) and Karl Shearman (drums). They played an infectious brand of groove saturated reggae rock, with lyrics which speak of a clear Christian commitment.
Moped have released two albums and one ep in their career. Their first album Noise From the Knee Drill was released in 2002 and the 2005 release Welcome to the Exodus. 2006 saw the release of their farewell ep and DVD One More March. Noise From the Knee Drill was a more rock based album, and though it was a far less polished album (than later albums) it contained songs like Guilt Trip, and This Means War which were regarded by many fans to be among Mopeds best work. "Welcome to the Exodus" featured more reggae based songs (but not without the rock influence) such as "Roots Down," "Will You Come" and "Sunset, Sunrise." It concludes with a moving acoustic song, "Stick to your Guns." These songs are also considered to be among their most popular.
In early 2006 Moped announced, to the disappointment of many fans, that at the end of the year they would be breaking up. The major reason for this was that they wanted to move on to do other things. In September they embarked on a two month tour of New Zealand to say goodbye to fans up and down the country and released the One more march ep/dvd. The tour concluded on December 1st in Wellington.
3) Moped were an indie trio from Philadelphia from the mid-1990s who had a singles and outtakes collection released on Vital Cog records called The Horrible Truth about Moped as well as a true album called It Won't Sound Any Better Tomorrow, which was released in 1996 on Summershine Records. Guitarist Bret Tobias went on to form the indie power pop band The Bigger Lovers which put out three albums, two which were released by Yep Rock. Singer/guitarist/drummer Kara Lafty went on to form the bands Sonny Sixkiller, who also released records on Vital Cog, and The Jane Anchor.
4) Moped are a Scooter tribute band formed in 1993. The band members include MC L.M.N.O.P, The Vicar and DJ Stelios. They are widely known in the United Kingdom for their frequent appearances on the popular Chris Moyles radio show and for their extra cheezy remixes of popular chart hits. The bands website could be found at http://www.emmetonline.co.uk/moped/music.htm but has since disappeared. The current status of the band is unknown.
