Band members are: Jack Kenworthy, Dom Potts, Sean Reilly, and Alex Johnson.
Their Blood EP was released November 17, 2014.
Jason Kramer interviewed the band in July 2014
------------
I asked Jack about the name of the band and he tells me OSCA is short for Oscar Peterson, who was a musical inspiration introduced by his father.
Jack and bass player Don are childhood friends from Leicester who used to play schoolyard shows for their classmates, including a cover of Radiohead’s “High and Dry”. As time went on, Shawn and Alex joined to create their band.
He names Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell as other inspirations, explaining that “these are writers whose stories we can all relate personally.”
“Blood” will be part of their forthcoming EP, due in October.
I look forward to following such a bright young band with many stories to tell in the future.

“Trumpet was inspired by a novel I was given of the same title. The book is about the life of Joss Moody, a jazz trumpeter in the 50s, who was born a female but chose to live his life as a man in order to pursue a career as a musician. It discusses the question of true identity in relation to our own actions – when Joss was playing the trumpet his gender and sexual identity became irrelevant. I really liked this idea of individuality and it became the basis for the lyrics of the song. The idea of telling someone to be who you are and not to be afraid of that. The line ‘It all doesn’t matter, let the trumpet sound’ is a direct reference to the book.” Read more on Last.fm.
