PD Syndicate
"PD Syndicate is as the name suggests - a musical ‘syndicate’ of producer M J Cole, rapper Rodney P and featured vocalist Courtney Melody. Their first single ‘Ruff Like Me’ was signed by Public Demand to Warner for a six-figure sum, such was the impact of this urban anthem, which is currently one of the hottest street tunes. Taking Courtney Melody’s classic ‘Bad Boy’ chorus, this was reworked into 2002 style by premier producer M J Cole, and given a faultless lyrical treatment by Rodney P.
Public Demand tracked down Courtney Melody via reggae label Greensleeves, eventually finding him in the hills of Jamaica. He was then flown over to the UK where he laid down a brilliant vocal; the chemistry being perfect between himself, Rodney P and M J Cole. The final touch was added with a top-drawer remix by hit-making drum & bass duo Shy FX and T Power. PD Syndicate’s new track feat Elephant Man entitled “Zoom Zoom” is currently causing damage on the dance floors of the U.K.
PD Syndicate are now working on a new album, which boasts featured artists such as number 1 reggae don, Elephant Man, M4 & YT, and Cutty Ranks. Definitely an act to watch in 2003.
MJ Cole
Individually the members of PD Syndicate already have a highly respected CV. Producer / remixer and DJ, M J Cole is known as one of the true ‘godfathers’ of UK Garage. Classically trained at the Royal College of Music, MJ Cole began his career engineering drum & Bass / breakbeat tracks for the SOUR label, before breaking into UK Garage with Ramsey & Fen and United Groove Collective (then known as 2 As 1) on a series of now-classic anthems including all-time favourite, ‘Lovebug’.
He is now an established album artist in his own right, and has hit the top 40 with tracks such as ‘Sincere’ and ‘Crazy Love’, winning critical acclaim from across the music scene. M J Cole’s remixes are also enormously successful and his magic touch has covered Alicia Keys, Roni Size, Masters At Work and Goldie to name but a few. MJ Cole is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures to have emerged from UK Garage and his highly musical style has been an inspiration to a whole new generation of producers
