Pail
Pail is the electro industrial project by Manix S. from Spain.
His debut album 'Epidemic' was created in 1998 and released through his very own record company
Caustic Records in 1999.
In 2001 followed 'Bei Finsterdem Tagesanbruch'which came out as a vinyl only, meant to be a taste of things to come, of the next album in progress.
However, due to various reasons this was delayed until 2005, which finally saw the release of 'Towards Nowhere'. Inspired by current world events, as well as personal experiences, this album deals with how these things influence lives on a daily basis, leading 'towards nowhere', unless people start making a stand against this constant tide of conflicts.
Musically Pail encompasses different sounds. The first album is very experimental, from (mainly) Electro-Industrial to ebm, breakbeat, with a noise element, towards ambient and even slight guitar riffs in some songs (for example in "Perfseac" or "Tired").
'Towards Nowhere' has got a very distinct and unique sound, and is well produced. It has sweeping melodies, rhythmic beats and distorted vocals, typical for harsh electro.
The following additional information has been provided by the artist, Manix S. (Pail) himself:
Pail is Manix S. Musical project. Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, city where he lives and owns a recording studio (Aktiv-Akt Studios). Here he composes and creates his music, which can be defined as Electro Industrial in which we can find various different influences such as techno, EBM breakbeat or ambient.
'Epidemic' was his debut album, released by his very own record company, CAUSTIC RECORDS created by Manix S. in 1998 due to the lack of discographic alternatives for this sort of music in his country. Nowadays it has been consolidated as the main Spanish company dedicated to edit and export the very best music created here among the vast variety of styles the company supports: Electro, Industrial, EBM, Dark Folk, Experimental, etc...
In January 99 Epidemic was liscensed by the company Dion Fortune/ECR. In Germany The album was distributed in Europe, USA and Canada, achieving great success beyond national borders. Due to this fact, Pail was interviewed by the main magazines among the European Industrial Scene even repercuting in Russia, Ucrania or Rumania where the track 'Take it out' obtained the 3rd place on the hitlist from Radio Sky in Constanta. Besides, Pail appears in international compilations of companies such as Mindbase, Dion Fortune, Flatline, Dystopian, etc.., sharing place with such important bands as Front Line Assembly, Wumpscut, Suicide Commando, Haujobb, Dive, Biopsy, etc.
'Bei Finsterdem Tagesanbruch' is Pails second album where four new songs, edited in 12" vinyl, appear and where breakbeat, electro, industrial and techno rythms are mixed. The vinyl is a 500 units limited edition.
This vinyl was going to be the advance to Pails second full album but due to various reasons (change and remodelling of the studio amongst them) it was never finished, leaving all other songs in a master that might someday be edited.
After moving and enlarging the studio, from then on, Aktiv-Act Studios is starting to generate what was going to be the latest album to date, called 'Towards Nowhere' which was ready in January 2005 and edited by Caustic Records and distributed worldwide. 'Towards Nowhere' is liscensed by the
company Bloodline for GAS territory and with the company NGP for USA/Canada and Japan with another artwork by Cancer Box for this USA edition.
Pail ( P.a.i.l ) is also the name of an English progressive/art metal band based near Liverpool. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
