Pangaea
There are at least four artists performing under the name Pangaea.
1) 25-year-old Kevin McAuley began making music with a two-track mixer, a keyboard and a tape deck as a schoolboy. Discovering dubstep via the sounds of Mala in the backroom of a Leeds club in 2005, Kevin was inspired to found the city’s first dubstep night, Ruffage, and launched himself into the studio.
Pangaea enters 2009 as an established DJ/producer and co-owner of Hessle Audio with fellow stalwarts Ramadanman and Ben UFO. Their young label is already the subject of much critical acclaim from discerning dubstep and techno fans and responsible for progressive, landmark releases including TRG’s ‘Broken Heart’, Ramadanman’s ‘Blimey’, Pangaea’s own ‘Coiled EP’, ‘Router’ and ‘You & I’ alongside material from likeminded producers Untold and Martyn.
His DJ schedule is rapidly picking up pace with consistent bookings across Europe and a burgeoning reputation as a true pioneer behind the decks; a notion backed up by Mary Anne Hobbs who described his recent mix for BBC Radio 1 as “texturally one of the most exquisite mixes of the year…breathtakingly beautiful in every way.”
2) Pangaea was a hardcore band from munich in germany.
3) Pangaea were an early 90s experimental/rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Ben Ely of Regurgitator was their lead singer/songwriter, drummer Dave Atkins went on to form Resin Dogs.
4) Pangaea is one man dark/drone/noise/industrial/electronic/experimental-ambient project from Odintsovo in Russia.
5) Pangaea is a metal band from Wisconsin, U.S.A. and consists of - Vocals: Michael Dionne, Guitar: Trae Titus, Guitar: Evan Webster, Bass: Spencer Fox, Drums: Michael DeMarco. They are a band that draws from numerous influences, creating music that appeals to all fans of heavy music. With this wide variety of musical influences, Pangaea brings elements from all styles of music together into one eclectic piece of art. Their debut EP entitled, “Unified,” experiments with combining progressive yet crushing breakdowns and technical melodic riffs with colorful vocal harmonies that tastefully complement dynamic underlying guitar passages. Unafraid to experiment, Pangaea doesn’t force all of its focus on heaviness or technicality. Rather, the band strives to write songs that are authentic and inventive, with hopes to guide heavy music in a new direction. 5.29.15 will see the release of the band's sophomore EP "Roots" and plans on extensive touring in support of it for the rest of 2015.
