Patrick Carney
Patrick Carney (born April 15 1980) is the drummer for the Black Keys, a blues/rock band originating from Akron, Ohio. Patrick also plays bass in drummer, a side-project started with 4 other notable ohio musicians that just so happen to all play drums in their other bands.
His style in some songs is similar to John Bonham's with "Aeroplane Blues" being one example. Both Carney and Dan Auerbach, the lead singer and guitarist for The Black Keys, record with Nonesuch Records. The group's first album The Big Come Up and second album, Thickfreakness, were recorded in Patrick's old basement in Akron on a street called, Richmond Place.
Carney has produced records for Beaten Awake, Houseguest, The Black Keys and Lana Davies. Besides The Black Keys, Carney has another band with his brother, 10% Animal, in which he plays guitar. His uncle is Ralph Carney, sax player for Tom Waits.
In late 2005, Carney started his own record label and studio, Audio Eagle Records. As of 2009, Audio Eagle has released albums by Gil Mantera's Party Dream, Houseguest, Beaten Awake, Other Girls, drummer, and Royal Bangs.
On July 7, 2007 Patrick was married to former Akron Beacon Journal reporter and current Cleveland Scene reporter and long time girlfriend, Denise Grollmus. Theodore Mallison of Houseguest performed the ceremony.
