Peyman Yazdanian
Peyman Yazdanian was born in 1969 in Tehran. He started learning the piano at the age of 6 and continued with his master Farman Behbud up to the advanced level. At the age of 12, he started taking harmony and composition lessons from Plus Khofri. He has taken part in a few master classes of Austrian professor Gerhard Gretchleger from the conservatory of Vienna and Professor Ernest Hozel from the conservatory of Graz and he has also taken an advanced stage course in Marseille with Professor Ginette Gaubert. He has taken a few Conducting lessons with Iradj Sahbai (The conductor of Strazburg-Shiltigheim Orchstra). He has had many concerts both as a soloist and an accompanist.
Taking part in the international piano competition, Concour Musical de France (CMF) held in 2000, he won the first prize and afterwards he had a recital in the French University, Ecole National Superior de Telecommunication (E.N.S.T). A year before he had won the second prize in the same competition (CMF). As a composer, he has written more than forty pieces for the piano and some of them have been performed in Paris.
He has composed for a number of featured films like “The Wind Will Carry Us” by Abbas Kiarostami, “The Strangers” by Ramin Bahrani, “The Water and the Fire” by Fereydoun Jayrani, “We Pass By Each other” by Iraj Karimi, “The deserted Station” by Alireza Raisian, “The little birdboy” by Rahbar Ghanbari, “And along came a spider” by Maziar Bahari, “The White Nights” by Farzad Motamen,“The Wind Carpet” & “Sometimes look at the sky” & “A Piece of Bread” by Kamal Tabrizi, “The Fatherhood Vilage” by Rasoul Mollagholipour, “The Tradition of Lover Killing” & “A Place in Far Distance” by Khosro Masumi, “The Soldiers of Friday” by Masood Kimiai, “The Picture of A Lady From Far away” by Ali Mosaffa and “A Night” & “Few days later” by Niki Karimi, “Firework Wednesday” by Asghar Farhadi.
He has also worked for few foreign featured films like “Summer Palace” (2006-China, France) by Lou Ye (Official selection In the Competition, Cannes film film festival 2006), “La Fine del Mare” (2005-Germany, France) by Nora Hoppe, “Man Push Cart” (2005-USA), “Forbidden Chapter” (2004-Italy, France), “Waken Rules” (2006-Germany).
All of his 3 Cds has been released by Hermes Records in Tehran with the names: “Themes” (2002), "Second Take" (2004) and "Crossing" (2007).
He won the First prize of the 5th Olympia film festival (December 2002) in Greece for the best Original Sound Track of the film “The little birdboy”(Dir:Rahbar Ghanbari).
He got his bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering from Sharif Industrial University of Tehran and now he works as a pianist, composer and piano teacher.
Yazdanian adores performing pieces by Sergei Rachmaninov.
He was a solist in piano concerto in D minor by Bach with Iraj Sahbai conducting Tehran symphonic orchestra 2 year ago and he conducted and played the same piece in a chamber style with smaller groupe named Parsian String Ensemble last year at Niavaran Palace.
