Quiero Club
Quiero Club (Spanish for I want club) is an electro band from Monterrey, Mexico. They are part of Happy-fi collective and released their debut album in late 2006. Their music combines several elements from different genres like rock, pop and electronic music.
Gustavo (vocals, guitar, percussion) had been playing in several bands from the local scene (Zurdok, La Live Band, She's a Tease) before starting Quiero Club with his friend Priscila (vocals, guitar, keyboard).
The band was originally a project based only on guitars, drums and vocals; which was how they appeared live during several months. A while after, Boscop (drums, bass guitar; a warrior from the local scene and who had been a roadie and sound engineer for most of the local bands) and Marcela (vocals, keyboard) joined in. Catsup left then for Barcelona, but the band kept playing with Luis Fara (bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals; friends with Boscop and Gustavo's cousin, also part of several important local bands like Sofá, Maple and Vicio). When Gustavo came back, the band stayed whith this final line-up.
They recorded No Coke in December 2004 at (Niña's bass player) Gino's studio, song which became really popular during 2005 because of its heavy rotation on Mexico City's Reactor 105 radio station, as well as on MySpace and the blogsphere. This let them play that year's Vive Latino festival and an extensive tour throughout Mexico.
They entered the studio in late 2005 to record what became their debut album, WOF, released in 2006. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
