Radiostars debut album “it cannot bleed” is a mix of Americana, nordic-jazz and blues.
Bandleader, composer, songwriter and sax-player Michael Blicher has always loved and been influenced by great songwriters. Inspired by Tom Waits, Neil Young, John Lennon and Wayne Shorter, Radiostar is all about playing great songs, acoustic soulfull sound and a great love for the saxophone.
The band has played 40 concerts in and around Denmark the last 3 years and has found that the music appeals to jazz, rock and blues fans of all ages.
The debut album (released april 2007), features vocalist Marie Fisker on 3 songs. Marie is an upcoming Danish singer/songwriter who is inspired by artists like Mazzy Star, Gillian Welch and Johnny Cash.
The album was recorded 4 days in june 2006. Everything was recorded on a oldfashion tape-recorder to try to make that warm and glowing sound in that rytmsection that they love from albums with The Beatles, Miles Davis and many others.
The music has been called things like: Beatles-jazz, Danish rock/Jazz, Americana-music with 2 tenor saxophones, Instrumental crossover, Blues music from denmark, A tribute to Tom Waits, Neil Young, Stan Getz, Miles and Ornette Coleman.
