Red Lights Flash
The story so far...
This permanent four-piece from Graz / Austria started of as a punk/hardcore band in 1997 and soon realised that it should be more about than just playing songs that you have probably heard too many times before. They definitely listened in music class: Experimenting with varied dynamics and tempos, using effective silences as well as 3 different voice-characters, fast-driven guitars and excellent drums, they managed to accompany meaningful messages with groundbreaking music full of passion and anger.
In 1999, Red Lights Flash released their debut album "Stop When..." on the vienna based punk label Remedy Records, followed by several shows in Austria and the first touring experiences in Europe. With "And Time Goes By", the second full-length in 2002, the band gained the opportunity to release on Householdname Records of London.
This led Red Lights Flash to three European tours and five UK tours including tour supports for Anti-Flag, Capdown and Good Clean Fun as well as several support slots for bands like Good Riddance, As Friends Rust, Propagandhi, Strike Anywhere, Leftover Crack, Ensign, Union13, Hundred Reasons, Intensity, Grade, Int. Noise Conspiracy, Down By Law, 59 Times The Pain, Dropkick Murphys, Satanic Surfers, Such A Surge, Carthasis, All Systems Go!, Donots, Dillinger4, A.F.I., Strung Out, Diesel Boy, Agnostic Front, The Start and many more. Enlarging this list with numerousness weekend and headlining shows outshined by the official Air and Style - Contest Aftershowparty and several festival appearances like Sziget, Primsrock or Donauinsel Festival to name but a few, they have gathered around 450 little stories of raw, sweating and energetic punkrock experiences.
2004 saw Red Lights Flash releasing their third studio long player "Free" worldwide due to getting sensationally signed by the Anti-Flag owned label A.F. Records from Pittsburgh, PA, USA as a result of doing the really successful Anti-Flag Tour Support.
A copious Release-Tour throughout Europe, a tour alongside Rise Against and Alexisonfire and their first headline tour throughout Spain and Portugal followed. "Free" is still getting consistently terrific response and reviews worldwide topped by the track "Past Soul" being number ..1 for 6 weeks in German Resistance Charts and the video to the song "Time The Lights Went Out" getting sensationally airplayed on German Music TV station VivaPlus.
In October 2010 the band announced (on their website http://www.redlightsflash.com) that they would split. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
