Rojin
Rojin, Kurdish singer
Rojin was born the middle child in a family of 5 siblings in the city of Adana; her father was from the city of Mardin and her mother was Syrian. She is Kurd. Like so many children in this in land, her childhood was spent in poverty. Her early education was at Adana primary and elementary schools; after this she attended the Adana Conservatory. Despite the difficult circumstances of her family she continued her education in the arts. For four years, she took courses in Karate, focusing on defence and balance, she also took courses in music and song instruction. In 1990 she continued her education at the Ankara State Conservatory and in the same year she took part in the Theatre Festival in Erlangen. With the piece 'Taziye' she finished her schooling on an upnote and began to work at the Ankara State Theatre.
Rojin signed her first recording contract in 1996, eventually her first CD was released in 2000. Unfortunately the 4 year lapse was a long wait and she lost much time. Her first album was released in 2000 and became very successful. After its release she signed with the International firm, Sony.Music. She had been waiting for the opportunity to record music in her native Kurdish language and appeal to a more international market. . The single 'Si' from the same named second album was released in 2003. This was not only a first for Rojin but also an artistic step forward into Kurdish and other ethnic musical directions. The single was a success in many countries. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
