Santiago Feliú
Santiago Feliú is a Cuban singer/songwriter, in the "nueva trova" Cuban folk music tradition (which includes better-known artists like Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés). Santiago's older brother Vicente is also a popular singer/songwriter.
Santiago's music is often much "harder" than traditional nueva trova, producing surprisingly forceful music from an (amplified) classical guitar. This was especially true in his late-nineties album Future Inmediato, which borders on rock-n-roll. His latest, Sin Julieta, seems to have returned to his roots, usually including just Santi's vocals, guitar, and harmonica.
He is left handed and plays a right handed guitar "backwards", which makes for unique picking and harmonic patterns. After hearing his music, many are surprised to learn that speaking he has a significant stuttering problem, which makes him appear shy as he introduces songs in concert.
