Smoove
There are multiple artists named Smoove.
1. A producer of breakbeat and electronic music signed to Acid Jazz.
2. A rapper. A pimp stuck in a gangster's body.
1. Smoove has been on the scene for a while, as part of ultragroove, ashbrooke allstars and producing for rubberneck and remixing many well-known and lesser-known artists. In 1995 he created his first solo-tracks for the soundtrack to "sprung" (an extreme sports video), of which the track he won't get far was released as a single. In 2000 a cd with his old material was passed to the owner of Acid Jazz, reulting in his first release Dead Men's Shirts in 2004.
About his production Smoove can be quoted: "With the album 'He Won't Get Far' I didn't have the production knowledge that I have now. The tracks were heavily sample based and layered in Cubase in a cut and paste style. I was sampling beats over funk loops, string loops and various vocal snatches. This is my production style, however today because of sampling lawsuits I use minimalist loops from less-obvious sources and then enhance them using session musi cians. This fusion between samples and musicians gives my tracks a mature and organic sound."
Smoove from Newcastle/UK seems to be the shooting star of today’s electronic freestyle music scene. He crosses all musical boarders in his own tracks and his DJ sets by mixing Funk, Northern Soul, Hip Hop, Breakbeats and Jazz to an organic union.
His presence in the UK and Europe expanded with tours promoting the late 2005 release of his debut album “Dead Men’s Shirts” on Acid Jazz Records. Performing at the Berlin, Fusion Festival to attendees of 60,000 and a live performance alongside DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist at the Sage Gateshead were two highlights of this busy time.
June 2006 saw the creation of his “Mash Up” label Wack Records. Its first two releases “Big Love” & “Quality Soul”. rocked the German club charts to number 15 and spurned a tour to Germany, Budapest , Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Russia, Lithuania and Poland.
‘Coming Back/The Revolution will be televised’ reached position 4 (2005) in the official ‘Beats & Breaks Charts’ in the UK and spent five weeks in the German Dance Charts ‘DCC’. A floor filler for all soul, funk and freestyle oriented clubs! Freestyle DJs & producers all over Europe gave their credits for the song.
Recent productions have escalated to great heights with his unmistakable ‘Smoove’ sound. A raise in profile has lead to remixes of artists Malente, Dynamo Productions (Andy Smith & Boca 45) , The Ju Ju Orchestra, Frequento, Bucky Leo Quintet, Torpedo Boyz, K Bonus, Andy Lewis, and The New Master Sounds has opened doors of opportunity with major record labels.
In the summer 2007 Acid Jazz Rec. released his second album ‘Gravy’ Remixes & Rarities which featured the club smash “Im A Man” and Smoove’s version of the Lord Large track featuring legandery Dean Parrish ‘Left, Right and Centre’ is a remake of Paul Weller’s original and has worked its way into DJ boxes around the globe.

'Sure to be one of the best albums of 2009 - This should be the future of Soul music in my book!'
