Strength Approach
Strength Approach formed in the Spring of 1996 in Rome, Italy to breath new life into the local hardcore scene that had become stagnant and boring. From their first live appearance, the kids took notice of the energetic performances and the band’s notoriety grew within Rome. The more this new entity took to the stage, the more the name grew and eventually they were gaining attention outside the city as well. In that first year, the fledgling Surrounded label asked Strength Approach to contribute a song to their now infamous compilation “The New Season.” With this exposure, Strength Approach was able to spread their name, release a subsequent self titled debut 7”, and play throughout Italy and its European Neighbors. In 1997, they played the XXX Hardcore Fest in Milan with bands such as Reality, Redemption, and Product among others. Despite a few line-up changes, the band never slowed down and continued to record and put forth other material.
These early recordings gave the band an opportunity to catch the eyes of the larger hardcore scenes throughout europe and even the United States. For example, the Belgian Siton records put out their “Keep the Standards High” 7”, and their split with Florida’s Esteem appeared on Germany’s Keep It Alive records. With additional international labels like Reflections, Commitment, Back ta Basics, and others from Japan and Scandinavia using their songs for various compilations, Strength Approach kept up their momentum and continued to make their presence known.
With this handful of recordings under their belt and the new 7” entitled “Just Leaving Home” on SOA records to support, the band set off on their first European tour hitting France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and England. The highlight of that tour being co-headliners along side with Vision and Length of Time at London’s Evil Fest. Another tour in 2001 saw the second European tour focusing more on the Eastern Nations where they headlined the the region’s biggest hardcore festival, Fluff Fest in support of their Discography “96-2K1” CD on Hold On Records which sold out on that tour.
2002 was a rebuilding year for Strength Approach where they were able to settle on a more secure line-up. In 2003, the second press of the Discography along with the MCD “The Fall Through My Eyes” were released and received with many positive reviews. That Summer, the band played 25 shows throughout Germany, Holland, Belgium, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia booked by Germany’s X6154X Agency in support of said records. On this tour they performed at Fluff Fest again as well as their first appearance at the Endless Summer Fest in Germany with Backfire and Anti-Flag.
After some changes in the line-up in 2004, the MCD has been re-released. Along with plans to record new material a full length came out on Wynona/Hurry Up records called “Sick hearts die young” and distributed worldwide, yet another European Tour took place in August of 2004. Leaving no room for laziness or down time this Roman powerhouse hit the road once again in 2005 heading toward Germany,Belgium,France and again in October in support of their new release.2006 has been a great year for the band because they got the chance to tour Japan for the first time and Europe extensively in support of their new album.
Strength Approach have a new single in the work coming out on german Defiant Hearts records and called “Piece by piece” and currently is writing material for the new album due to be released on 2007 .
