The Circles
This West Midlands mod band came together in mid-1979. Mick Waller had previously been in INJECTORS and in NEON HEARTS. They issued a demo tape and on strengh of this were signed to a local Graduate label who released their debut 45 "Opening Up" in November 1979. Both this and the flip side were group compositions. Certainly "Opening Up" is one of the strongest songs the mod revival produced. It got to No.15 in the indie charts and was soon picked for reissue by Chrysalis in early 1980. They switched to Vertigo for "Angry Voices" the same year, but split following a U.K. tour in September 1980.
Later in 1985, Graduate unearthed "Circles" which had been recorded back in 1979. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
