The New Occupants
Around 1981, the New Occupants started recording at Danger Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. The first record by The New Occupants, a four song album which included “It’s Time To Become Robots”, along with “I Want To Function With You”, “Mechanical Rights”, and “Interdigitation”. This album was released on Danger Records and was played at some of the local dance clubs, including First Avenue, in downtown Minneapolis and received much airplay on the college radio station network.
Sometime in 1984, C. David Erbele and Tom Campbell wrote a song for The New Occupants called “Blue Light”. The song was recorded at Danger Studios and mixed at Greenstreet Recording in New York, NY and mastered at Criterion studios in Miami, Florida. “Blue Light” was a 12 inch record with 3 mixes, released in 1984 and was played in various dance clubs world wide. The record was reviewed in Billboard (February 9, 1985) and was described as "A kiloton of new wave dance beat". “Blue Light” was featured on a Razormade compilation album, released in 1986. A website was created www.newoccupants.com.
Following the success of “Blue Light”, The New Occupants recorded songs for “Remastered” their first CD release at Hayes Recording in Tampa, FL. with mix engineer John Uhrig , producer C. David Erbele, and programmer guitarist Charlie Erickson, adding “Dark Day”, “Electric Angel”, “Code Blue”, Walking the Earth Alone”, and “Vertigo” to The New Occupants song collection. Finally “Allergic to the Sun” written by C. David Erbele and James Saxon, was recorded at Danger Studios as the last song to make it on the CD.. Read more on Last.fm.
