- a jazz/hip-hop band from USA:
- The Project: original music made by a cast of thousands (3 of us to be exact). Eddie Brown - vocals and lyrics. Mark Fairhurst - drums, percussion, 12 string guitar. Dave Scotland - guitars, keyboards, monster twiddler of knobs, engineer. Our album Penkivil Street was recorded in the most humble of circumstances - in the dining room and spare bedroom of Eddie's house. Dave set up a quantity of microphones, the odd queen size mattress (for maximum isolation) and we played for 2 days, getting all the bed tracks down. Eddie then recorded his vocals, utilising the wardrobe in the spare room as vocal booth (not quite Abbey Road, but it worked well). Dave then set about adding organ, piano, mellotron, some scorching guitar solos and a myriad of other sounds - mixing as he went. A boffin of the highest calibre, Mr Scotland's contribution to this album cannot be underestimated. Penkivil Street, the full CD is about to be released on iTunes, while the first set of singles, will be available on 7digital as of the 12th of March, 2009 - courtesy of our friends at Manga Republic.
