Singer Tomas Kocko became popular due to his recital featuring Wallachian poet Ladislav Nezdaril´s poetry set to music. He re-discovered the Wallachian bard who devoted his works to the Beskydy mountains, local people, customs and heroes of the region. Ladislav Nezdaril´s songs and poetry make up the major part of Kocko´s repertoire which he plays with his band called ”Tomáš Kočko & Orchestr”. Another important part of Kocko´s repertoire consists of original songs inspired by legends of outlaws, especially the legends and songs of Ondras a legendary hero of the Beskydy mountains. And finally, there are Kocko´s original renditions of Moravian traditional music. The sound of the band is a strictly acoustic, stamped with traditional music of Moravia and Beskydy region, rock and world music. Tomas Kocko & Orchestra took part in many major Czech, Poland, and Slovak folk and alternative music festivals (Valasský spalicek, Nowa Tradycja, Folk Masowia festival, Porta, Excelentne roznosti, EBU folk festival etc…) The band collaborates with Czech Radio and Czech Television.
