Towary Zastępcze
Towary Zastępcze (Replacement Goods) – Polish music band from the Tricity, established in 2003 by Piotr Czerski and Michał Piotrowski.
In the first period of their activity Towary Zastepcze avoided creating any music, which was their programme and manifesto. Finally, in April 2006 composer Borys Kossakowski joined the band. This started a second stage in the existence of Towary Zastepcze: preparing pieces for their first album (Ciche dni (Silent Days), Korporacja Ha!art, 2006)
The music of Towary Zastępcze is sometimes classified as depressive electroreggae (or melancholic, industrial postdisco). Towary Zastepcze mix electronic music with hip-hop bits, energetic guitars with classical piano music, free-jazz and nu-jazz with reggae and dub, and sung poetry with minimal music.
Apart from the three members of Towary Zastępcze guests participated in the recording of Ciche dni: cartoonist Magdalenia Danaj, coming out in a new role, charismatic singers Ewa Brylewska and Sara Brylewska as well as Louis Brazofuerte, trumpet and saxophone player responsible for wind instrument sections.
