Treow
Treow is a Japanese musician who started uploading music in October of 2008 and named his group 'ElektLyze'. His alias name is taken from lyrics of his first uploaded song L'azur, while his official name came from Murakami Haruki's novel title "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" (EoW - "end of the world"'s abbreviation).
Since 2010 he teamed up with Kitajima Shizuka and created ELECTROCUTICA - a music group involves many producers, musicians, and singers. His most popular songs are probably Chaining Intention and DYE/Re:flection+ (remix of AVTechNO!'s famous DYE) which got 1st place on Megurine Luka midyear special ranking last year.
It's hard to describe Treow's music, but basically his genre is idm with the mixture of many complicated melodies and sounds which are not easily recognized on first time listening. His music style is a little similar to Yoko Kanno's (one of the musicians who affected him, as he himself said in Gekkayo magazine interview), means that his works always have certain depth and climax. Many of his songs are moderately catchy electronic tunes alternate with a mixture of piano, drum as well as other instruments; therefore are able to form delicate and fascinating unique sounds that are not too hard on ears, but strong enough to amaze listeners and easily grasp their minds. Moreover, he likes to put expansions and changes in rhythm so much that one of his nicknames is "Young Noble of Rhythm Change".
He doesn't often write lyrics for his songs; lyrics are written by other members such as NaturaLe, Kitajima Shizuka, hisui0, ARUKO, etc which always have deep meaning, abstract and go perfectly with the glamorous music.
Treow frequently uses vocaloids Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka for his works. His Miku often has solid and clear voice which can reach extremely high notes without any strain, but sometimes is slender enough to blend smoothly with calm and subtle rhythms. Miku's voice is often tuned to be not too loud, as if it was about to dissolve into the music, yet still sharp enough to be heard clearly. Treow is also known for making Miku hum with a tranquil voice or speaking in a little robotic way at some parts. His Luka's voice is calm and rich, gently mixed with Miku's and always makes a lively combination. Treow has only used Megpoid Gumi for iDOLLA, but her voice is greatly tuned too and seems to have a broad range.
After forming ELECTROCUTICA with Shizuka Kitajima, Treow started to collaborate with many artists on various fields: vocals, instruments, lyrics, animations, and graphics. All the vocalists he chose are famous for their steady and beautiful voices: ルシュカ, やなぎなぎ and F9; as well as skilled musicians and graphic designers, all who consequently give his songs more power of expression. He also does remix of famous songs, and collaborates with other VocaloidP to produce mixed electronic albums, such as Crystalloid, with 8#Prince, AVTechNO!, and millstones. In the vocaloid producer community, he is also known as Sakashoudou-P (逆衝動P), where he produces original works as well as remixes of other vocaloid artists. Read more on Last.fm.
