Vinternatt
There are at least 2 bands with the same name:
1. Slovenian Black Metal band Vinternatt (now known as Krvnik) was formed in September 2004. It all started as a project of M.K. which became a serious band when I.J. and Cadaver joined Vinternatt in early January 2005. They released a demo called “Moon in Darkness” in 2006. After the release of the demo they encountered major problems and split-up. During summer of 2007 the band returned with a new drummer J.C. and recorded they’re second demo called “The Dawn of Abolish” (recorded during rehersals in October 2007). “In The Shades of Oblivion” was released in spring 2008. After this release the band decided to start a new chapter with more melodic and melancholic music. They also started performing on stage. In autumn, the same year, they recorded and released a split called “…Echoes”. They changed their name to Krvnik during the summer of 2009
2. A Belgian Folk Metal band existing since 2004, the year 2006 marked the beginning of more to come for Vinternatt as they released their CDemo 'Yggdrasil'. Mastering was done by CCRstudio's (Aborted, Leng Tch'e, ...) and Harbinger Design made the beautiful artwork. Vinternatt received a lot of great responses to the CDemo.
Since this demo, Vinternatt has evolved into a band with a more mature sound and music. The new influences of new bandmembers, drummer Jelle K. & bassplayer Jef V. had a part in this improvement. Yet Vinternatt is never stopping to perfect their typical melodic & melancholic sound.
The lyrical concept in most of the songs deal about pure metaphorical, existential ideas of spirit and conciousness. In other songs a more socio-critical undertone takes the upperhand. Other concepts about history and old tales also receive a lot of attention in new songs.
Evolution:
The efforts put in 'Yggdrasil' have payed off. Vinternatt received extensive attention of organisations which has led to gigs including a performance at Biebob, Nepherex and Sandstorm gigs, to name a few. Vinternatt wants nothing to stand in the way of delivering a killer release, so extensive preproduction and a vastly improved sound will definitely make this release something worthwhile.
Two newly recorded songs clearly show the progress of the band. The sound is recognizable but even more melancholic and technical in its approach.
