Zamia
Zamia began in 2002 in Northfield, MA with founding member Ruslan Sopromadze. In 2009 Jeff Demers, and Jared M. Duff joined the band and they started creating music. In 2010 Seth Maclean came on board as the bass player. Due to distance and time unfortunately Seth had to step down from the band. In 2011 Zamia started recording their new album Souls Collide which is set to release in October 2011. While Benjamin Jon from Stillwork Studios was recording their album he felt drawn to fill the hole that was left by the bas player and he became a full member of the band. Their sound has been influenced by bands such as P.O.D., Shinedown, Deftones, and Sevendust.
The definition of Zamia in the dictionary is "An American or Australian cycad some kinds of which produce roots or seeds that are edible after careful preparation" The band took this name and defintion and interpreted it with the idea that their music, when carefully prepared, could produce positive seeds in peoples hearts that would give them hope in a dark world. This is why they strive to reach out to their fans on a personal level and be a source of encouragement to them. If you would like to know more about them check out their website www.zamiaband.com and become a part of the movement.
