the Picturesque Episodes
Music for slow wide minds.
"the Picturesque Episodes" is a one man's, Darius' Gerulis, music project that he started as an experimental sonic playground for himself in his hometown, Kaunas, Lithuania. Ranging from lullaby-like string ambiance to noisy repetitive breakdowns and accidental noise records, the Picturesque Episodes covers much musical ground and include many diverse music genres with exceptional attention to the narrative and emotional structure of music. Various demos and tracks touch upon the themes of post-rock, ambient, neo-classical music while always translating a coherent and continuous musical story. The project released over a dozen of albums and collections through years 2009-2014, with the latest album being "Dreams IV", which was handed out to friends in 2014 and can be free for download, like all of his music, online. The goal of the project's music is to convey the "cosmic" purpose and the music itself creates an introspective atmosphere. Most of the releases' artwork is done by a Lithuanian photographer, Lina Bielinytė.
Since 2013 the project was pushed to the background by a new project by Darius Gerulis, "King Sleep" which leans more towards modern electronic forms of music and pop.
