Blokovski
Spirit Blokovski. Built his views and identity in the matrix of New Belgrade’s concrete jungle. The “blocks,” as they are affectionately called by Belgrade’s residents, served as inspiration for Blokovski’s name, and were his stomping grounds during the hormone-fueled teenage mayhem and stages of his growth, both as an individual and as an artist.
The roots of Blokovski's cult status as one of the Serbian hip hop scene's most prolific and poetic artists reach back to 1996, when he recorded his first demo tracks. However, it took him seven more years to fully dedicate himself to the art form. In 2005, he released his first demo album, a trend that he has continued every year since then.
Blokovski is the founder of the independent Belgrade-based hip hop label "Carski Rez" (or Caesarean Cut, in poor English), which today boasts over 30 releases in its catalogue with 17 artists on its roster. His new online radio show called "Samo Lagano" (or "Take It Easy") which he co-hosts with his rhyming counterpart Supreme, has become a runaway success. The show naturally focuses on Serbian hip hop, showcasing the best of its beginnings in the late 1980's to today's latest independent artists. Read more on Last.fm.
