Canadians
Canadians are a band from Verona, Italy. The members are Duccio Simbeni (Vocals/ Guitar), Massimo Fiorio (Bass), Michele Nicoli (Guitar), Vittorio Pozzato (Keyboards/ Guitar) and Christian Corso (Drums).
They formed in 2005 and released the self-produced debut EP “The North Side of Summer” the same year. The EP was well received by fans and gained critical acclaim from the indie press. In 2006 the band entered and won Heineken’s 'Jammin’ Competition; a competition to find the best new bands in Italy. Later that year Canadians were recognised by the NME as a band to look out for. More positive press followed and the band finished 2006 by being featuring in the U.S. TV show ‘Project My World’. This introduced the band to thousands of American indie-rock fans. Meanwhile, the band continued to tour northern Italy.
Canadians made their first visit to the UK in the summer of 2007 to play the ‘International Pop Overthrow Festival’ at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool. Their debut album “A Sky With No Stars” was released by the Varese based indie label Ghost Records in September 2007. Canadians are indie rock with the emphasis on melody. Read more on Last.fm.
